The shadows she observed on the lawn prompted her to work for months on a technique, which in contrast did not portray the object she chose onto canvas. In this way, the selected subject is transformed into an image. This is especially true when using living items or objects that die like fruit or even humans. Alexa's style of painting is one of ephemeral, and only photos of her work remain. Trompe-l'oeil art is created through the combination of two methods of photography and painting. The result is an unflattened and two-dimensional image. Meade can sometimes incorporate her model in the surrounding three-dimensional environment that allows the model to be a part of the world of their own. The result is a blurring of the lines between painting, photography and installation.
